Girls tennis Season ends for Unioto's Sorensen 10/10/03 The tennis season came to an end Friday for Unioto's Tayler Sorensen in the girls Division II district tournament at the Columbus School for Girls. The Sherman freshman -- who finishes the season with a 17-2 record in singles competition -- lost her first round match Friday to Chrissy Walton of Buckeye Valley 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.  Walton was eliminated in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-2 by Elizabeth Carruthers of the Columbus School for Girls. Sorensen suffered both of her losses in the post-season tournaments after going unbeaten in 13 regular season matches at No. 1 singles. Unioto finishes 8-5 in regular season 10/01/03 Unioto defeated Waverly 3-2 in girls tennis Wednesday to finish the regular season with an 8-5 record. Jessica Metcalf has been switched from No. 2 singles to No. 1 doubles for the team's final two matches and the tournament. Unioto hosts Waverly Tuesday evening in the final match of the regular season. Metcalf teamed with Caitlin Keaton to win No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-1 against Athens and Tayler Sorensen remained unbeaten at No. 1 singles. Chillicothe 4, Portsmouth  The match was a carbon copy of the first meeting between the two teams with Portsmouth's Allison Day getting the best of Chillicothe's Jennifer Myers at No. 1 singles. Day won the first set in a 7-6 tiebreaker (7,4) and the second 6-0. Now 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division, CHS is at Dublin Scioto in an OCC match Tuesday. The loss is second for CHS in 10 matches, including a 2-0 start in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division. CHS hosts Westland in a 4:30 p.m. OCC match Thursday evening at Ohio University-Chillicothe. Wednesday's match was a nail-biter with three of the five matches going three sets and Jennifer Myers losing a 7-6 tie-breaker in her No. 1 singles match with Michelle Fulecky.
